Thai Grammar: hâi ให้ Different ways to use

The Thai word ให้ (hâi) can have several different meanings in English, depending on the context in which it is used. Here are some example sentences.

1. To give 

ผม ให้ ของขวัญ แฟน

pom hâi kǒrng-kwăn faen

I’m giving my girlfriend a present.

2. To want someone do something for you : อยากให้

ฉัน อยาก ให้ คุณ เชื่อ ฉัน

Chán yaàg hâi kun cheuâ chán

I want you to believe me.

3.To being polite ให้หน่อย

ช่วย หยิบ ทิชชู่ ให้ หน่อย

chuây yìb tíd-chôo hâi nòi

Could you please pass me the toilet paper?
